Sponsorship Signal Privacy Policy
Effective 14 October 2026
Sponsorship Signal is a browser extension that helps people see whether a job is likely to sponsor an H-1B visa. This policy explains what it does with information. In short, it reads job pages in your browser, sends only a few details about the job to look up public filing data, and does not collect personal information.
Who we are
Sponsorship Signal is operated by Soumya Krishnaraj. You can contact us at soumyakrishnarajj@gmail.com.
What the extension reads
On the job boards and careers sites it recognises, the extension checks in your browser whether the page you opened is a job posting. On any other site, it does this only when you press the toolbar button or use the right-click option. To do this it reads the text on the page, such as the job title, company name, location and description. This reading happens on your device. The page text is not sent to us or anyone else.
What leaves your browser
To fetch public filing statistics, the extension sends the following to our database.
- The company name.
- The job title.
- The job’s city and state, when the page shows them.
That is all. We do not send the web address of the page, your name, your email or any account details, because the extension has no accounts. The right-click option only reads text you have highlighted, in your browser. If it needs a company lookup, it sends the company name and job title, as above.
What is stored on your device
The extension saves the following in your browser.
- A cache of recent lookup results, for up to 7 days, so repeat visits are fast.
- The position of the on-screen tile.
- Company-name corrections you make, so the same careers site is right next time.
- Your choice on the “I already have an H-1B” setting.
- Temporary details about the job you are viewing, kept only for the current browser session.
This stays on your device. Removing the extension or clearing its data deletes it.
Third parties
- Our database host. Lookups go to a hosted database service. Like any web service, it receives your IP address with each request and may keep standard server logs such as time and IP address for a limited period. We do not use these logs to identify you or build profiles.
- Google Fonts. The tile loads a font from Google Fonts. Google receives a standard font request, which includes your IP address, under its own privacy policy.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your data.
- We do not use your data for advertising or analytics.
- We do not track you across websites.
- We do not use your data for credit, lending or any purpose unrelated to the extension’s single purpose.
Where the filing data comes from
The statistics come from public US Department of Labor filing data. A filing is an intent to hire, not an approved visa. The extension’s verdicts are estimates, not legal advice. For decisions about your immigration status, speak to a qualified immigration attorney.
Children
The extension is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the extension handles information, we will update this page and the effective date above.
